Community funding and grants

Currently no applications for community funding are being accepted.

Community Funding

The Cheshire Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) supports local people and organisations by providing community funding to help make Cheshire safer and stronger. This money helps projects that reduce crime, improve community safety and support victims – especially where extra support makes a real difference.

Community funding means local groups, charities or organisations can apply for money – subject to the fund criteria – to do work that helps keep people safe and build thriving communities.

What community funding does

Community funding is used to support:

Local projects

Projects that make a positive difference in neighbourhoods. For example, activities that help young people stay safe or reduce anti-social behaviour.

Partnerships

Groups work together – such as charities, community groups and local authorities – to deliver community safety work.

Prevention and early help

Support for programmes that help to stop problems before they start, like mentoring, diversion activities for young people or awareness raising activities.

Support for vulnerable people

Funding that helps people affected by crime feel safer and get the support they need. For example, crime prevention advice or victim support activities.

Why this matters

Community funding helps ensure that local organisations have the resources they need to:

  • keep people safe
  • prevent crime before it happens
  • support victims and vulnerable people
  • strengthen local communities

This funding is part of the PCC’s commitment to working with local partners and residents to help Cheshire thrive, and be a safer place to live, work and visit.

What we do

Successful applications for SWAP funding

The PCC provides funding to support local organisations, charities and community groups across the county. The aim is to help communities come together, to reduce crime, prevent anti-social behaviour and help people feel safer.

This is done through the SWAP (Safety, Working together, Action and Prevention) Fund.

Grants and additional funds

Legislation

Under current legislation, the PCC is responsible for providing or arranging the following services:

  • Crime and Disorder Reduction: Initiatives aimed at preventing and reducing crime across Cheshire.
  • Support for Victims and Witnesses: Services to help those affected by offences or anti-social behaviour.
  • Other Specified Services: Programmes as directed by the Secretary of State.

All funding decisions are closely aligned with the priorities set out in the Police and Crime Plan. Progress is monitored using clear, measurable outcomes to ensure that the needs of Cheshire’s communities are met effectively.
