Cheshire Constabulary is seeking feedback on a proposal to relocate Frodsham Police to a nearby location at Frodsham Fire Station.

The force is asking local people to give us their views and take part in an online survey.

Frodsham police station is located on Ship Street and is currently not occupied on a permanent basis and doesn’t operate a designated help desk. It is only used as a local office base and a refreshment facility on a drop in basis only for police officers and staff.

Frodsham fire station, which is also located on Ship Street and in close proximity to the police station, has been identified as a suitable location for a joint police and fire station. It has the space and facilities to accommodate the same services for officers, staff and members of the public that are currently being delivered at the police station.

The new location will also offer PCSOs the facility to book on and off their shifts, saving them valuable traveling time to and from their current location at Blacon police station and giving them more time out on patrol at key locations.

There is no proposed change to the current public service offer.  The Police Contact Point installed to the exterior of Frodsham Police Station would be moved to the new location.  Public access to the station would not be diminished and the new location would have Constabulary signage to its exterior thereby maintaining a visible presence in the vicinity.

As part of the collaboration agreement between the PCC and Cheshire Fire Authority, there is a commitment on both parties to provide a fit-for-purpose property portfolio based on the future operational needs of both organisations. This includes identifying and agreeing opportunities for co-locations across both organisations’ estates.

If the proposal is agreed, the current site would be surplus to operational requirements and available for disposal. Any proceeds from the disposal will be reinvestment in future police estates proposals across Cheshire.

You can have your say to this proposal by taking part in an online survey which will open  from 9am Tuesday 29 August 2017 until 5pm Monday 25 September 2017 at www.cheshire.police.uk/frodshamsurvey.

The results will be reported to the Police and Crime Commissioner, who will make a decision and feedback from the survey will be published on www.cheshire-pcc.gov.uk.
